My name is Haubeni Kaacha aka Walter Torres, I am a stone sculptor from the Pueblo of Acoma. My style of carving is direct carving with the teachings of grid systems I learned at the Poeh Arts Center in Pojoqaque. My grandmother gave me the inspiration to use our native design into a stylized work in stone. Using our native culture as pueblo people, our prayers, songs and dance have made me look deeper into my soul to express form, flow and representation. I plan to further my education at the Poeh and to learn more techniques and new skills in order to take care of my family and define my style as a professional stone sculptor.
